ACTION-Housing is thrilled to break ground on the construction of Second Avenue Commons, a new homeless shelter that will be constructed in downtown Pittsburgh. This partnership between PNC, UPMC, Highmark, Allegheny County Government, the City of Pittsburgh and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh will provide shelter and comprehensive wrap-around services for adults experiencing homelessness in an unprecedented public-private collaboration that will serve as a national model of supporting vulnerable residents. When complete, this 42,000SF building will contain an overnight shelter with room for 95 people, 45 units of single room occupancy housing, day programs for non-residents, employment and addiction recovery programs, and will be pet friendly.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of making this much-needed project a reality.
