Action Housing Annual Meeting to Feature Secretary Siger’s Preview of DCED’s Housing Action Plan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Pittsburgh, PA — Action Housing is excited to announce its upcoming Annual Meeting, scheduled for May 16, 2025, at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. This year’s meeting will highlight the organization’s impact and future direction, marked by a video address from Governor Josh Shapiro and a significant presentation by Secretary Rick Siger of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
Secretary Siger will provide a preview of DCED’s groundbreaking Housing Action Plan, an initiative aimed at addressing the pressing housing needs of all Pennsylvanians. This comprehensive plan will focus on:
– Increasing the supply of workforce housing
– Creating new pathways to homeownership
– Boosting the availability of affordable housing
– Providing essential resources for the homeless and those without housing
DCED aims to collaborate with state agencies and stakeholders across the Commonwealth to develop this vital blueprint for housing opportunities. Community engagement is essential, and attendees will be able to learn more about the plan and its potential impact on Pennsylvania’s housing landscape.
“DCED is excited to work with colleagues inside and outside state government to create an action plan that will increase the supply of workforce housing, boost the supply of affordable housing, and provide critical support for people who are currently unhoused,” explained Secretary Rick Siger. “The Housing Action Plan will provide a roadmap to increase Pennsylvania’s economic competitiveness and complement our work to make the Commonwealth a top place to live, work, play, and innovate.”
In addition, Action Housing will recognize two esteemed partners at the meeting, presenting Community Partner Awards to Leon Haynes, Executive Director of Hosanna House, and Erin Dalton, Director of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, for their dedication to improving housing and support services in the region.
“We are honored to bring together key stakeholders at our Annual Meeting to discuss the future of housing in Pennsylvania. It is an opportunity to connect as a community and reinforce our mission to ensure everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. We look forward to collaborating with our partners to turn vision into action,” says Lena Andrews, CEO of Action Housing.
We invite everyone to join us for this pivotal event!
