Recognizing ACTION-Housing's newest development for its Readers' Choice Award, Affordable Housing Finance Magazine has named the Uptown Lofts on Fifth as a finalist in their "Special-Needs" category. The Uptown Lofts is a two building development that is home to 24 one-bedroom apartments for individuals who have aged out of the foster care system in Allegheny County. ACTION-Housing provides these young adults with services and life skills instruction to encourage self-sufficiency.

The development also provides 23 one and two bedroom units for people making 50 to 60 percent of the area median income, with social service coordination on site.

The Affordable Housing Finance story goes on to discuss the development's unique approach to energy efficiency, and positive impact on the Uptown Neighborhood.
